Creators

The Creators section manages everyone involved in the creation of a comic.

Instead of entering names repeatedly for every comic, creators are stored once as metadata and can then be assigned to any number of comics.

This keeps names consistent throughout your collection while making searching, filtering, and organization much easier.

Creating a Creator

When creating a new creator, the following information can be stored:

  • Name
  • Role
  • Notes (optional)

Once created, the creator becomes available for selection when editing comics.

Name

Enter the person’s full name.

Examples:

  • Stan Lee
  • Steve Ditko
  • Todd McFarlane
  • Brian Michael Bendis

Each creator only needs to be created once and can then be assigned to any number of comics.

Role

The Role describes the creator’s contribution to the comic.

SCADA currently supports the following roles:

  • Writer
  • Penciller
  • Inker
  • Colorist
  • Letterer
  • Editor
  • Cover Artist
  • Creator
  • Other

Using roles helps organize your collection and makes future filtering and analysis more meaningful.

Notes

Use the Notes field to store additional information about a creator.

Examples include:

  • Pen names
  • Additional background information
  • Personal notes

This field is completely optional.

Assigning Creators to Comics

When editing a comic, you can assign as many creators as needed.

This allows every contributor to be documented accurately.

Example

  • Writer — Stan Lee
  • Penciller — Steve Ditko
  • Inker — Joe Sinnott
  • Colorist — Glynis Wein
  • Letterer — Artie Simek

Why Use Creator Metadata?

Managing creators centrally provides several advantages:

  • Consistent spelling
  • No duplicate entries
  • Quick selection while editing comics
  • Powerful search and filtering
  • Consistent metadata throughout your archive

Original Creators

The Creator role is intended for the original creators of a comic series or character.

For example, Stan Lee and Steve Ditko can be assigned as the original creators of Spider-Man, regardless of which writers or artists contributed to later issues.

This helps distinguish the original creators of a property from the creative teams responsible for individual comics.

Summary

The Creators section provides a consistent way to manage writers, artists, editors, and other contributors. By storing creator information only once, SCADA reduces duplicate data, keeps metadata consistent, and makes it easy to document everyone involved in the creation of your comics.
